The London performance poetry scene is vibrant and alive exploding with energy and new writing of the highest standard. Cheap, friendly, often hilarious and always inspiring, poetry nights are gathering in popularity and notoriety all over the city. Outspoken is a night that brings this energy and enthusiasm to an exciting new Peckham venue. Not just for poets this event is a rhyming alternative to stand up comedy or theatre, appealing to those who like both.  Outspoken offers South Londoners the chance to experience the work of talented and popular spoken word artists right on their doorstep.

Emma Jones
Due to represent London in Jack Dean's National Team Slam Olympics, Emma Jones combines her love of rhyme with her flair for character. Set to appear at Meadowlands Festival this summer, she recently performed at the Bang Said the Gun festive special, filmed by Channel 4 Random Acts.Teacher by day, uproarious spoken word performer by night, Emma Jones is a seasoned regular on the poetry scene, she recently appeared on Channel 4’s Random Acts for Bang Said the Gun and has just performed at Meadowlands festival. Effortlessly creating multiple characters on stage her style is captivating and funny. She weaves heartfelt stories from real life that manage to be both cynical and charming. A clever, witty and laugh out loud hilarious performer.  http://missjonespoet.tumblr.com/

Simon Mole
Simon Mole is the first of two poets to grace our stage from the fantastic chill pill http://www.chill-pill.co.uk/collective who host awesome poetry nights regularly across London. A popular poet, mc and writer Simon has recently had his own solo show at The Albany in Deptford. http://extrachair.wordpress.com/ His work is uplifting and lyrical. He combines a laid back performance style with poetry that is rich in detail and rhythm, packing a punch with poignant images that everybody can relate to.

Raymond Antrobus
Our second Chill Pill representative Raymond is another hugely successful poet on the scene. He is also a coach for Shake the Dust (national poetry slam for young people) and member of one of London’s most highly praised collectives A Poem in between People. Raymond’s poems are powerfully delivered, he combines surreal and everyday images, meandering descriptions with witty one liners to create unforgettable thought provoking poetry.   http://www.raymondantrobus.com/

Open Mic
With several open mic slots available throughout the evening Outspoken gives the opportunity for new poets to showcase their work and share it with a real audience. There will also be the chance to receive friendly feedback after the show.
