Jane Holland reads tomorrow as new Warwick Laureate

Jane Holland reads as Poet Laureate at Warwick Words Festival 2007


Warwick Words (4th - 7th Oct) is a popular literary festival with many events that feature more than 50 writers, poets, illustrators, storytellers and performance poets.

The sixth Warwick Words literary festival features Roy Hattersley, Anne Diamond, Charles Spencer, Will Hutton, Sophie Hannah, David Morley, Zoe Brigley, Dani Carbery, Sean Kelly, Helen Yendall, Jane Holland, Julie Boden, Norma Farnes, Nigel Rees, Pauline Prior-Pitt, Alison Weir, Phil Beadle and Michael Wood plus many more.

Jane Holland (editor of Poets on Fire) is the new Warwick Laureate!

You can hear Jane Holland read alongside the retiring Laureate Helen Yendall at a special Laureate Poetry event on Sunday 7th October, 10.30am - 12pm, at Cafe Chai in central Warwick.

Poets on Fire editor Jane Holland reads at the MAC in Birmingham. Popular open mic with guest poet night at the Midlands Arts Centre. Jane Holland reads from her new poetry collection 'Boudicca & Co' (Salt 2006) and brand-new poems.

Bring your own poems and read them to a supportive audience!

Jane Holland, September’s Poetry Bites guest, was once a semi-professional snooker player ranked 24th in the world before she retired from the sport in 1995. She has won an Eric Gregory Award for her poetry. Her first collection was published by Bloodaxe and her novel, Kissing the Pink, was published by Sceptre in 1999. Jane currently lives in Warwickshire where she is working on a second novel and editing Poets on Fire, an online poetry resource. Her latest collection Boudicca & Co is published by Salt.

Poetry Bites, hosted by Jacqui Rowe, also includes floor spots where you can share your own poetry with an appreciative audience. Please arrive early to book a spot.
