Women's Slam in Brighton & Oxford: 5th & 6th March

Hammer and Tongue Women's Slam 2007

Space for Flashing Graphics, please imagine HERE.

Monday 5th March, The Komedia, Brighton
Tuesday 6th March, The Zodiac, Oxford

In association with International Women's Day, Oxford's premier performance poetry collective Hammer and Tongue is proud to present its traditional March evening of poetry, empowerment and the best chocolate goodies outside Godiva.

Compered by Sophia 'Sassy Sappho,' Blackwell, the show features dub legend Jean 'Binta' Breeze, one of the most important, influential performance poets of recent years. There will also be support from some fine female poets, both in guest spots and in the form of an eight-person Slam.

In Oxford, the Slam itself is girls-only but everyone is welcome to attend, male and female. For more details- or if you want to sign up to Slam - please contact sophiablackwell@gmail.com

N.B. Sophia wanted flashing graphics and twirly-whirly stuff to accompany this post, but alas, it's not that kind of site. But since we're all artistes and highly creative people, I'm sure we can use our imaginations to envisage what she wanted and thus enhance this post for ourselves. Whirl, twirl, flash etc ...

For instance:
BEWARE - the following post contains imaginary flashing graphics. Read at your own risk!

These sensitive poets ...
