I don't usually carry news about non-live poetry events, but I'm making an exception for this particular poetry prize. Known for her rich and intense prize-winning poems and novels - the latter written under the pseudonym of Virginia Smith, and including the highly popular Ropemaker's Daughter - Virginia Warbey died tragically young in a car crash in 2004. This poetry competition, judged by Ian McMillan, is being held in her memory. For my own review of her first full-length collection, click here.
