Simon Armitage in the Park this September

Simon Armitage: Poems in the Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, Wakefield WF4 4LG.

A series of five readings by poet Simon Armitage to celebrate YSP's 30th birthday. Each site-specific reading will be tailored to the particular atmosphere of the location, and alongside existing work, Armitage will read new poems written especially for the occasion. These will include translations from the Wakefield Mystery Plays; the cycle of medieval verse-dramas dating from the 15th century.

Those attending will each receive a signed, limited-edition copy of the new works as a reminder of these special events.

The week will culminate in a final, celebratory reading performed to a larger audience in Longside Gallery, with a glass of wine to toast the occasion.
